| Bedfordshire-based construction firm Kier have been selected to build the replacement for the Sidney Stringer Community Technology College in Coventry, Warwickshire.
Kier beat rival construction company Laing O’Rourke in securing the project which will see a new city academy built on Primrose Hill Street, Hillfields in the city. The decision is expected to be rubber-stamped early next week and, if the project is accepted by the academy’s sponsors, a planning application will go in during July with work expected to start in Autumn/ Winter 2009. The academy is expected to be ready for students in September 2011. The offices currently housing Coventry City Council’s Neighbourhood Management team will be demolished to make way for the new building. The sponsors of the academy being built to replace Sidney Stringer will be City College Coventry, Coventry University, Coventry City Council and luxury car maker Jaguar. |
