Aspire Commence Work On World’s First Zero-Carbon Superstore – Contractor “Will Use Sub-Sight”

Posted by Stuart Paterson in Cambridgeshire, Eco, Principal contractor, Sub-Contractor, Sub-Sight, Subcontractor on August 14, 2009

Sub-Sight’s parent company, Aspire Recruitment Group, have been chosen as preferred labour supplier on the historic site in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire which is due for completion in late 2009.

The Tesco superstore, constructed by RG Carter, will utilise Nano Gel roof lights, Wind Catchers, wind turbines, rainwater harvesting and solar-powered streetlights, as well as other ground-breaking technologies, but, better still, RG Carter have said that they will look at companies on Sub-Sight before chosing sub-contractors for the site.

For Sub-Sight to be considered as an option, for selecting local companies to complete sub-contract packages, on a landmark package such as this is a huge boost for all involved and will guarantee sub-contractors involved an easier path through this coming winter.

Aspire Recruitment Group and Sub-Sight managing director, Ashley Percival-Smith said on securing work on the project, “The project will involve technologies and techniques never before used and it would seem appropriate that the main contractors have chosen to use a groundbreaking service such as Sub-Sight in order to source the right local sub-contractors.”

Derek Redmond joins Sub-Sight as an ambassador

The news comes in the same month that Aspire secured an on-site presence on all three Olympic sites in East London and is likely provide some valuable exposure for Sub-Sight and the sub-contractors found within it.

Redmond provided one of the most enduring images in Olympic history when his hamstring snapped 150m into the 1992 Barcelona Olympics 400m semi-finals. A favourite for a medal, Derek struggled to his feet and hobbled the remaining distance to cross the line, showing a grit and determination which characterises his approach to his current work.

Now a successful keynote speaker with a reputation for taking his audiences on a roller-coaster of emotions, Derek draws upon his vast experience as an international sportsman to provide a fascinating and inspirational platform for his motivational speeches.

Sub-Sight Aims To Create £25m In Business For Construction Sub-Contractors Across 20 Counties In South-East England

Posted by Stuart Paterson in Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Construction Index, Essex, Gloucestershire, Greater London, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Sub-Sight, Suffolk, Surrey, Uncategorized, Warwickshire, West Midlands, Wiltshire, Worcestershire on August 14, 2009

Since its inception in March 2009, Sub-Sight has helped scores of sub-contractors in the South-East of England find new business due to their inclusion in the directory.

Now, due to phenomenal demand, Sub-Sight has extended its scope to cover another 13 counties (see below) and, as a result, has set a target of £25m in new contracts for sub-contractors in this newly extended area.

The 4000+ current projects within this region amount to a total value of over £3.8billion so far this year, ands this does not include the work going on in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics. This means that there will be somewhere in the region of 80,000 sub-contract packages going out to tender. Our intention is to ensure that, through effective networking on their behalf, our Sub-Sight members pick up a proportion of this work.

£25million works out at less than 1% of the total works being carried out in the region. Not such an unrealistic target after all? It stands to reason, when analysing these figures, that many of the sub-contract packages on projects in this region must be going to firms from outside the geographical region. Sub-Sight aims to re-claim a portion of the revenue in the Midlands and South-East of England for local firms.

Sub-Sight Entertainments Calendar Off To A Gallop

Posted by Stuart Paterson in Entertainment on May 27, 2009

The construction of a new bypass, as well as the building of around 5000 new homes, around the town of Towcester in Northamptonshire is set to boost the local economy and create up to 2670 new jobs according to a local newspaper.

As well as the new bypass and houses, the scheme could mean the construction of two schools, a new pavilion, sports pitches and a health centre in the town, according to the Northamptonshire Chronicle & Echo.

South Northamptonshire Council Leader Sandra Barnes was reported as saying, “It is also important that if we are going to have new people living here, they have got to be able to connect easily with Northampton and other places.”

She also added that it is vital that plans for the bypass are given the go-ahead if the local community in Towcester is to expand further.

It is thought that the new projects will give a huge boost to local construction companies and that local Civils, Groundworks, Earthworks contractors will be among the first to benefit.
